Tour of Somerset Hospital Medical Museum and Fort Wynyard (Kyk in die Pot)
Join the Durbanville Heritage Society on a visit to the historic Somerset Hospital Medical Museum and Fort Wynyard on Saturday 23rd August 2014 from 9am to 1pm
Time: 9.15am for 9.30am - 11.00am
Venue: The Somerset Hospital Medical Museum (Portswood Road, Greenpoint)
Parking: In the grounds of the Medical Museum
Speaker: Professor De Villiers (Founder of the Cape Medical Museum and Chairman of the Board since 1988)
Time: 11.00am to 11.45am
Venue: Salaam Cafe where refreshments are on sale, after which, pending confirmation, a visit to part of the old section of the hospital restored by Gabriel Fagan Architects.

Time: 12.00 noon to 1.00pm
Venue: Fort Wynyard built in 1795 and the headquarters of the Cape Garrison Artillery Regiment
Speaker: Willem Steenkamp will conduct a short tour of this historic gun battery.

Battle of Blaauwberg
On Saturday, the 26th July 2014 The Durbanville Heritage Society invites you to a presentation on the “Battle of Blaauwberg” to celebrate the opening of the Durbanville Library Hall.
Francois Jacobs, of the "War Games Society" will display his collection of miniature soldiers in a re-construction of the historic "Battle of Blaauwberg" of 1806 which had a profound effect on the history of our country.
Guest speakers Major Willem Steenkamp and Mr Roy Fuller-Gee will present an overview of different aspects of the battle.
Refreshments and copies of Assegais, Drums and Dragoons by Willem Steenkamp will be on sale.
The Date: Saturday 26th July 2014
Venue: The Library Hall, Oxford Road, Durbanville
Time: From 10.00am until 3.00pm
